Donation Guidelines

Thank you for considering the Jubilee Cars ministry for the donation of your vehicle! Jubilee Cars accepts vehicle donations in both operable and inoperable condition. Operable vehicles may be dropped off at our Jubilee Village facility; otherwise Jubilee Cars will arrange to pick up any inoperable vehicles.

To donate your operable vehicle at our facility

The main office for the Jubilee Cars ministry is located at 122 W. Liberty Drive in Wheaton.  However, the primary drop-off place for donated vehicles is at Jubilee Village, 395 Executive Drive in Carol Stream. Someone should be able to receive your donation during the following times: Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm; Saturday (by appointment only).

Please call our office at (630) 682-1910 during normal business hours to arrange a date and time for drop-off.

Please bring your keys, title and any applicable accessories for the vehicle you wish to donate. Please bring a screwdriver to remove your license plates. Also, please sign the title in the box labeled Assignment of title where it says Signature of Seller (IL titles). Please make sure we have your current mailing address. Within 30 days, you will receive a receipt and tax form 1098-C from us in the mail.

To have us pick up your inoperable vehicle

If your vehicle is not running, we can tow your vehicle to one of our local facilities for needed repairs. To set up a pick up time (primarily Monday through Friday during normal business hours) please call our office at 630.682-1910. We will require a key and a title for all donated vehicles. Please remove your license plates and sign the title in the box labeled Assignment of title where it says Signature of Seller (IL titles). Within 30 days, you will receive a receipt and tax form 1098-C from us in the mail.

Donation Valuation

Beginning in 2005, tax law changes require the Jubilee Cars ministry to inform the donor of the vehicle's value. Once we have disposed of the vehicle, you will be informed by mail of the vehicle's value. The vehicle's value is determined one of four ways:

Salvage - These vehicles are not repairable (or not financially feasible to repair) and they are salvaged for parts. The value of these vehicles is $499 or less, as determined by the donor.

Sale - Vehicles that run but are not given to new owners by the ministry are sold through various channels. The value of these vehicles is the amount obtained by the ministry when sold. Within 30 days of the vehicle's dale, the donor will be informed of this value by mail.

Repaired then Sold - Vehicles requiring substantial repairs that are repaired by the ministry and then sold may take significant time to complete, and as such the deduction for these vehicles is the fair market value. In these instances the donor may claim fair market value of the vehicle at the time of donation, per blue book guidelines (not to exceed the private party value). Vehicles must be worth repairing as determined by the ministry.

Distribution - Vehicles that are given to new owners by the ministry are given freely and thus no value is established by a sale. In these instances, the donor will be allowed to claim fair market value of the vehicle at the time of donation, per blue book guidelines (not to exceed the private party value).

How we maximize the value of your donation

We work hard to maximize the value of each donated vehicle as it benefits the ministry as well as the donor. Vehicles not given to a client within the organization are usually sold in an arm’s length deal for the private-party value listed in the blue book. Our goal is to extract the maximum amount from each car possible, enabling us to do more benevolent repairs and to give more vehicles away.

What we do with donated vehicles

The Jubilee Cars ministry was initiated to supply vehicles for our residents at Jubilee Village, a transitional living and independent supportive housing program for single, formerly homeless young mothers. Jubilee Village is designed to holistically address the myriad needs of its residents, many of whom enter the program with histories of domestic violence or other manifestations of family discord and without financial resources or job skills. Young mothers referred to this program generally require other wrap-around services, such as counseling, case management and parenting classes.

Vehicles not given to clients within our organization are either salvaged for parts or
sold, the proceeds of which directly support the Jubilee Cars ministry, ultimately impacting those we serve.

Thank you for considering the Jubilee Cars ministry for the donation of your vehicle! Without your generosity, this ministry would not be possible.
